Super Mario Odyssey hits the Real World.
We have never seen Mario in the real world before and it looks like Nintendo is making a significant jump with this new game! Unlike Super Mario Galaxy this epic trailer seems to take place entirely on earth. The new trailer for Super Mario Odyssey almost feels like a “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego” update, where Mario goes on a total exploration of Earth.
Mario interacting, playing jump rope, and living in the real world seems so weird. Especially because the real people in the game are so much taller then he is. HA! But we will give it to Nintendo for the amazing update in graphics. Once Mario leaves the city and heads for what seems to be Mexico with it’s entire Day of the Dead theme’d world we start to get a sense of what the game will have in store, fantasy starts to peer back in and we get back to the Mario landscape we’ve cherished all these years.
Keep a look out through out the trailer for the billboards pointing to King Bowser’s and Princess Peaches wedding?! It’s crazy and strange to say the least but… it seems like a fun new twist for the brand. I guess we won’t know fully til it comes out on Nintendo Switch this March!
