When visions of sugar plums don’t dance in your head… it’s probably because you didn’t feed that head enough sugar before bed!
For me and my little sister, Friday nights were for slumber parties, movies in the basement, and creating our own makeshift roller rink on the neighbors’ cement slab in their backyard. There was always a table nearby covered in pizza and treats, and the memory of those Friday nights will forever be scented with the smells of popcorn and cherry gelatin!

What You Need:
1 cup White corn syrup
1 cup Sugar
1 package 3 oz. flavored gelatin or Jell-o
9 cups Popped popcorn
Step By Step:
Set aside popped popcorn in a large bowl.
Grab a large pot and add 1 cup white corn syrup, 1 cup sugar, and 1 package flavored gelatin. We love cherry.
Mix all ingredients except popcorn on medium/high heat.
Bring mixture to a boil, and cook until gelatin and sugar are totally dissolved.
Pour mixture over popcorn and stir well with large rubber spatula.
Coat your hands in Crisco (or butter), and quickly grab the covered popcorn and form it into balls, any size.
Place the finished balls on wax paper and once cooled wrap them in plastic wrap or serve as is.
Decorating Tips:
For an ombre effect, separate the popcorn into 3 batches.
Follow the instructions as noted, but instead of adding an entire packet of gelatin, add the packet in 3 parts.
Mix and coat each bowl of popcorn with a different amount of gelatin added to the clear mixture.
Your first batch should appear light pink, second batch a darker red, and your third batch should be full red.
For the ultimate in unicorn decorating, add candy hearts or star sprinkles to the balls before they cool.
