The circus hardly ever came to our town, but when it did my parents would always try to get seats in the bandstand. The Barnum and Bailey Circus was a treat. For many of us, it was the first time we had ever seen exotic animals like elephants, monkeys, and tigers. The whole town would show up, stuffing their faces with pink cotton candy, popcorn, and tangerine circus peanuts.
Walking into the big top tent was a show all unto itself! The clowns, the flamethrowers, and the monkeys tumbled into my little sister’s and my dreams for the entire summer… so, needless to say, we two monkeys also worked that deep magic into our kitchen in the form of this powdered sugar treat!

Decorating Tips:
Want to make your Monkey Munch extra special?
Mix a bag of rainbow M&M’s® and pretzels into the bag for extra color. We like to serve this confection on rainbow napkins, but you could also serve it in a large white bowl.
For a neat fall or Halloween treat, substitue white chocolate chips for semisweet chocolate chips and add Reese’s Pieces®, Peanut Butter Cups, and pretzels. Your guests will go berserk for the amazing concoction of peanut butter flavors.
