Peak Pumpkin Spice Levels!

Pumpkin Spice

Warning: 2018 Has Officially Hit Peak Pumpkin Spice Levels!

Making the Case for Apple Cinnamon

Now, I’m not sure if you’ve heard (because it’s been pretty low key) but it’s October, and that means it is officially Pumpkin Spice Season. On the off chance that you, dear reader, are somehow new to earth, let me get you up to speed. Picture it, January 2003. Fresh off the success of their seasonal offerings the Peppermint Mocha and the Eggnog Latte, the folks at the Starbucks Drink-Tank started searching for a new limited time flavor. Though the test groups rated it as a middle-of-the-pack flavor, much preferring chocolate and caramel flavors, Starbucks wasn’t wiling to give up on it. After all, no one was offering any pumpkin themed drinks at the time. They were going to go ahead and take a chance on this pie flavored underdog. Fast forward 15 years and the country has gone bonkers for the pumpkin spice. One can find almost ANYTHING in a PSL flavoring. Legit, doing a quick Google search, I just found Pumpkin Spice Fettuccini…FETTUCCINI!

PSL: Now wildly available at your local grocery!

I mean, look, I like a good pumpkin pie as much as the next gal, but in the face of this madness, I would like to make my case for a flavor that I feel is not getting enough play these days. A flavor which has always evoked a sense of fall, cozy, yummy, sweater wearing fall. The time has come for the triumphant return of…Apple Cinnamon. Seriously. Can’t you just smell it? If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, then baking up some delicious apple cinnamon turnovers has got to make up for skipping my annual physical. (Just kidding. Everyone should definitely see their doctor at least once a year. Prevention is key!)

Apple Cinnamon: A welcomed refresh to fall flavors!

Apple Cider Vinegar is well known for it’s detoxifying properties, and the internet proposes that Apple Cinnamon water is another great way to cleanse the system. Just throw a couple of apple slices and a cinnamon stick in a pitcher of water and voila, a delicious and detoxifying refreshment!

I’ve literally only scratched the surface of the plethora of fantastic Apple Cinnamon delights that fall has to offer. It’s time for the reign of the Pumpkin Spice to come to an end. Long Live the Apple Cinnamon!
